Haberdasher is an awesome word!
From wikipedia:
A haberdasher is a person who sells small articles for sewing, such as buttons, ribbons, zips, and other notions. In American English, haberdasher is another term for a men's outfitter.
I wish people used this word more often. "Yeah, I've gotta go to the haberdasher after work."

So JoAnn's Fabrics is a haberdasher? Yesterday I went to the haberdasher to pick up some fabric to make a covering for my kitchen window.

I live in Haberdasher Square Lofts. Why is it called Haberdasher Square Lofts? Becuase it used to be the home to the Hart Schaffner and Marx suit factory! 😀

In Britain, they do. I think technically the haberdahser is the proprietor of a haberdashery. But I am not certain.
