Investment Opportunity: Me
This is about as ridiculous an idea as one can have, but it came to me in a dream last night.. one that I actually am able to remember.
I have this idea in my head that with proper funding and motivation, I could do great things. Or at least little things that will make a small enough difference to make the world a better place. And that's the goal that I've set for myself for this lifetime – I don't care about accumulating some insane amount of money and wealth, or building some sort of legacy and having my name mentioned in some semi-important context – I just want to go out knowing that I've done something to improve things.
So, the dream: I need a few people that have enough money to make a small investment in me. In my ideas. I'm not sure of the exact numbers yet, but probably something like a $4k investment with a payback of 1% of any profits (after living expenses) or $5k after 5 years, whichever is more. It'd be more like a loan than an investment, with at least a 25% return after 5 years. It's not just the money though, the idea is also that someone investing that sort of cash into anything would be interested in what sort of progress is being made – which seems like it would be a pretty good motivator.
I've been noticing a slight increase in readers lately, mostly due to google suddenly liking me a lot more. Some of my recent posts have been coming up as results for some interesting search terms, which the post they lead to has slightly more than nothing to actually do with. In order to make this blog a bit more useful, I think I'm going to start taking the most common searches and building pages that are actually useful for someone searching for those topics. I'm thinking of doing that on a weekly basis, so if you really want to throw me off, try to find the most obscure/bizarre searches that lead to my posts.

I've felt the same way! About seven years ago someone told me that there are some people in this world that would end up being more productive for the world as a whole if they were just allowed to run free and do what they want.
It's too bad that most people in this world need to have an official job to be productive. There's lots of people who don't know what to do with their free time, frankly it baffles me. There's always so much more to be done!
Say, did you go to a Montessori school? Many people who went to a school and was raised in this frame of mind have this sort of characteristic.

But seriously thinking about the logistics of my theory. The government should give out grants to people like this. In fact, i bet they do, there are artist grants, but that's usually only for one project of a couple months. There should be some sort of government agency where it's just a group of people doing whatever projects to improve things in the world. It's pie in the sky. But we have such a big world with big government, this sort of thing would be nice to have.

I guess that's what's always bothered me about the idea of choosing a "career".. It's so limiting, even if you're doing something that you absolutely enjoy – I have a hard time thinking of something that would really "help" in any important way.
I think I have much more of a "for the good of the colony/hive" almost insect-like mentality at times than most people. As long as my basic needs are fulfilled, I'm good.
Up until maybe a year and a half ago, I had never even heard of Montessori schools. A fellow student described his experience at one, and I think I might have actually gone slack-jawed.
I don't even know where I would start to look for such a grant.. and I'm not sure how strong I am as far as grant proposal writing skills. Maybe someone will accidentally stumble on this post, read this comment, and start me off in the right direction.

good luck with those "me" – or should i say "you" investments. don't look here…i'm a librarian, so i don't have that kind of free money to invest on such a high risk adventure. i might be able to spare a few dollars here and there, though. depends on my mood, haha 🙂
