Incoherent Updates

The worst part about taking off time from work? Coming back to work and getting to spend more than half the day fixing mistakes that were made when you were gone. The best part? Not having to be at work.

Yesterday I finally put a couch into my apartment. My living room now looks considerably smaller, but it still looks too bare. I'll have to get a smaller couch too, and maybe a coffee table or something to fill up the vast emptiness in the middle. I also acquired a tv that's much larger than the one I wasn't even using. AND I neatly ran the wires for my rear speakers up the wall and across the ceiling – no more tripping on speaker wires.

The blog is.. bloggy. I'm going to have to tweak the layout a bit, because there's certain things that I never really completed, and every time I look at it it just feels unfinished. I re-added the blogrush widget over on the right side. They've made quite a few changes, and cleaned things up, so I figured I'd give it another shot. It has brought in a little bit of traffic over the last few days, so I'm going to consider it successful. It'll stay for now. Yesterday I also upgraded wordpress to the latest version.. now I can tag posts in addition to just categorizing them – I'm not sure how that looks, but I guess I'm about to find out.

Lolcats tomorrow.. maybe some real content next week? 😛

eh, you can't have a perfect blog every day of the week. don't worry about it…tomorrow's lolcat will definitely make up for it 🙂

as for having time off from work, i think everyone understands about enjoying the time away from work, but dreading having to return to piles of stuff that has built up while you were gone. it's damn frustrating. you want to enjoy your vacation and your time away from work, but mentally, all you can think about is the massive amounts of work just waiting for you to return. but don't let that ruin it for you…definitely take vacation…you've earned it and you deserve it 🙂

Yeah, but in my case it's not just the pile of work that I come back to.. it's the pile of stuff that was "finished" but horribly screwed up. I'm still fixing some of this crap and the day is almost over. I think it almost would be easier if nothing was done back here when I was gone.

There is sense in your incoherence. Have you thought about training the folks that work for you in your absence so they make less mistakes? Working life is not supposed to be limited to just one person, its a group thing and a group is only as strong as its weakest link.

Yes… she's the most trained though.. and has handled a couple 3-5 day vacations before. I'm not sure what's going on, and why these mistakes are being made, that's what's frustrating.
I am training other people now though, so it should balance out.
