My Calendar
Woah!
My calendar has an entire week blocked off in October with something about a trip to Las Vegas…
I guess if it's on my calendar I'll have to do it.
Woah!

I guess if it's on my calendar I'll have to do it.
I need to use up at least 7 more days of vacation time by the end of the year, otherwise I'll have more than the 40 hours max that I can carry over to 2010. Unfortunately… we're kind of understaffed at the moment (for the next 7 weeks at least), so taking off an entire week, while possible, would be a jerk-face thing to do to all my cow-orkers.
So –
Instead of taking off an entire horizontal calendar week (Mon-Fri) I took off the next 5 Wednesdays (including today. YAY!) While it isn't nearly as good as a real week off, it looks just as good if you turn the calendar sideways. 🙂
It's also kind of nice to know that for the next month+, I won't have to work more than 2 weekdays in a row.
Overall.. I'm going to say it was a good trip. From Wisconsin to Missouri.. well, it's quite a drive.
The wedding reception thingy was fine, I was imagining something with at least a few moments of incredible awkwardness, but nothing really happened. I had a blueberry pie made especially for me, so my overall impression of the event is very good. I also got to witness an adult taste what could have been either salt, sand, or sugar from the centerpiece – which she decided was actually little grains of plastic.
I ate at Sonic for the first time, as did Fumbles. That was good. We went to a couple zoos – pictures should be up on flickr by the end of the week, and maybe some videos on youtube. I saw St. Louis flooded again, and rode to the top of the Arch for the second time in the last 10 years.
On the way back home I raced for several miles down I-90 with some asian kid in a Mazda RX8. That was some good clean fun – I haven't felt the urge to weave through traffic like that for a long time.. nor have I seen the speedometer in this car get so close to 110.
I feel like I'm failing a Turing test.
I've taken a liking to maps lately, so here's another one:
This is my excuse just in case I don't post at all until next Monday. Tonight I drive from A (Whitewater, WI) to B (Chicago, IL) followed by a 9+ hour drive tomorrow from B to C (Ava, MO).
I'm going to be adding mileage to my car faster than she's ever experienced. As of this morning my gas tank is full, my car is clean, and my tires are perfectly inflated. 1230 miles later, I'm sure I'm never going to want to drive again – which is ok, because I think I'm selling my car off in a few months anyway. Anyone want a slightly used 2007 Hyundai Sonata Limited?

I'm on vacation, so I'll just post a quick webcomic and get back to playing with flickr, emailing, and other stuff I haven't been able to do in FOREVER.
