Google Pac-Man Is Here To Stay!

Did you miss Google's 2-day celebration of Pac-Man's 30th anniversary – where they turned the "Google" logo into a functioning Pac-Man game?

Or.. did you just not waste enough of your work day playing it?

Luckily, Google has put the game back up at http://www.google.com/pacman/ – so… have at it!

Google Reader Subscriptions Deleted

All of my Google Reader subscriptions VANISHED when I tried to check them this morning.
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

All of my tags are still present, but empty.

The only thing that appears when I check it… 5 "welcome to reader" type posts.

GRRRRRR

Google Reader... deleted my subscriptions!

Google and Trash Diggers

This is straight from Gmail's "Deleting messages" FAQ:

"Deleted messages are a lot like the stuff in the trash can in your kitchen: eventually, it's all going in the big dumpster outside, but for a little while, you can still rummage through it if you lost something important."

….made me laugh

Herbal Herbs

According to google, there are around 6,000 searches a month for "herbal herbs". Why?

Personally, I'd be more interested in finding some "non-herbal herbs".

New Google Reader Features

Google Taking on Del.icio.us?

Google Reader now allows you to tag and share any web page in Google Reader. The "Note in Reader" feature seems a direct replacement for del.icio.us – except with a much narrower social cloud.

I've actually thought about how great it would be if Google allowed me to bring non-rss items and webpages into Reader, but now that it's available it's just one more place for me to keep track of things. How do I decide whether to bookmark something in del.icio.us, note it in Reader, save it as an email draft in gmail, etc?

Sharing More Clearly

I don't share many articles in Reader anymore, one of the reasons I tapered off was the occassional question of "Why did you share that?" Google fixed that too. You can now add notes to shared items, allowing you to explain why the heck you shared a picture of a slice of pepperoni pizza.

Extreme Makeover

It's completely superficial, and almost didn't get mentioned, but Reader now offers the option of styling your shared items page. The available styles? Well, right now, there aren't many:

No pirate theme? I, of course, chose Ninjas.
