I've always felt like I should contribute more to other blogs by posting comments. Sure, a lot of the time I don't really have anything worth saying, but when has that ever stopped me? +points at entire blog+

I've decided to borrow an idea from spudart and start keeping track of all the comments I post. I think that having something that I can look at and get a quick overview of my comment behavior might encourage me to comment just a bit more.

I'm debating what to do with these. One possibility is to have a post each month containing all comments I've posted from the previous month, or a "best of" if I ever get to the point of having to weed them down.

And to the random interwebbers that may stumble across this post: if you have a blog that you think is worthy 😛 of my comments, post it here in the comments.

Oh man! If I waited until tomorrow, it would have been exactly 2 months since the last post on this blog. That's crazy!

What has been going on?
*Work
*Learning python
*Writing a python script that uses a genetic(ish) algorithm to turn 128 random circles into a target image one mutation at a time (slow, needs work, back-burner-ed for now)
*Writing an AIM chatbot at the request of spudart (right now it just repeats what you send it. add "sparxmind" to your buddy list if you'd like to have your messages parroted back to you)
*Lots of other stuff!

Now I just have to get back into the habit of posting stuff on a more regular basis. We'll see how that goes.

I've been having odd dreams lately… again.

Last night wasn't as odd as I've gotten used to, but there's one part of one of the dreams that sticks out in my mind and is directly related to this blog. In the dream, one of my friends pointed out that he enjoys reading sparxMind, but it lacks substance, cohesion, and that it's just me talking about whatever, whenever, and not always making complete sense.

Duh! Duh Dream-Friend! I don't claim to be a topical blog, I don't report about politics, or new electronics, or whatever. I rant about whatever happens to be on my mind at the time. And maybe that keeps me from getting a ton of subscribers, return visitors, commenters, etc. – but who cares? Some of the posts are useful, some are stupid, and some are just blatant grabs at short term traffic (like my previous xkcd related posts that increased traffic by almost 1000 visitors per day for weeks!).

I guess the Dream-Critic was just voicing concerns that had been lurking in the back of my mind, which is why I need to put them to rest publicly (in another rambling post nonetheless!) So… there.

Also, Spudart donated money for my plants! Yay Spudart!
