Is Google Trying to Psychoanalyze Me?
I had today's post somewhat figured out. Meaning that I had an idea for a topic and not much more. I'll save it for a later post though.
Right now my mind is a bit preoccupied with the ads that Google is serving on this page. The last couple of posts have focussed on happiness, and good things like that, but here is an example of the ads currently running:
I'm using an image, because if I describe the contents of the ads in this post, it'll just skew things even more and it'll take longer for them to disappear. I've also destroyed the screenshot a bit so it doesn't look like a real ad.
There are two possible reasons for this
- Advertisers have decided that anyone using words like "smile" or "happy" need to be presented with ways to cure their d.pression.
- Google has analyzed the content of all of my posts and has decided that my visitors, and myself, all need professional help.
- There are only two explanations. This #3 does not exist.
I'm going to guess (a very educated guess too) that it's #1. But sometimes it's more exciting to be paranoid, no?

Google knows more about you than you think.
