It's because when they are that young they need love and care. So by having them be so cute, it further encourages the parents to take care of these cute little babies. It may sound wrong to say that the cuteness will encourage the parents, because a parent's love goes beyond the looks. But there's something really interesting in how babies are designed to be cute, so everyone will be encouraged to help raise these babies. Lolcats gets philosophical!
