McCain Irony

Wednesday I watched the movie "Wedding Crashers" for the first time ever. I've been meaning to watch it since.. well, I think I wanted to see it when it was in the theaters but decided to wait until it was on DVD - so, 3ish years ago.

What I wasn't expecting to see was a cameo appearance by John McCain. We had to rewind the movie and go back. Twice. And then pause it so I could be sure it was him. Sure enough, John McCain is in the movie Wedding crashers for maybe 4 seconds. It right after the scene where Christopher Walken's daughter gets married, outside the church. And RIGHT after the camera cuts away the next scene shows a Time magazine with Walken's mug on the cover and the caption "The Next President?"

"The Next President?" … Coincidence?

It made me smile. Poor McCain.

Hooked On CostCo

CostCo is the greatest store ever.

I saved 40% on a 20 pack of Vitamin Water, walked out with a 10lb bag of pancake mix, spent almost nothing on 40oz of mixed nuts, passed on a 3lb box of Wheat Thins, and paid $6.50 for 12 muffins that are bigger than my head (not quite, but they're damn big).

Oh! And free samples at the end of most of the aisles!

I was like a kid in a candy store - literally, when I went down the candy aisle.

Friday lolcats - Not Quite Gone

If you've been wondering about the lack of "Friday lolcats" posts - I've just had too much on my plate lately to keep up with posting them. Sure, you can just check out icanhascheezburger.com and subscribe to the RSS feed, but where's the fun in that? The point of my friday lolcat post was to dig through all the pictures posted in the last week, and weed out all but (what I thought were) the best.

Instead of coming up with a revised posting schedule, or some overly complicated solution, I've just decided to make the feed of pictures that I tag for the lolcat post public so anyone that wants to can view and subscribe to it. It's updated semi-realtime as I tag a new picture. It's basically somewhere in between my old friday post format and a "digest" version of icanhascheezburger (with a bit of cuteoverload posts thrown in as I deam necessary.)

You can view and subscribe to this RSS feed by following this link to sparx' lolcat picks.

I Hope You Voted

Seriously.

If you're eligible to vote and chose not to push a button, or draw a line, or check a box, or fill out an absentee ballot…. why? If you chose not to vote and then complain about ANYTHING during the next few years - then I hope you get hit by a bus. A bus with pointy spikes all over it.

Even if your vote was stupid (like voting for McCain), at least you took the time and made the effort to have your views and beliefs better represented in our government. I know 2 people that admit to voting for McCain, and 4 that didn't vote - one of which is proud of the fact that he didn't vote. I'd rather know 6 people that voted for McCain.
