Questions At The Library

I work in a library.
I get asked a lot of questions.
Some of them are pretty.. ridiculous.

Actual conversation:

Girl: How do I get to the "3rd floor main collection"?
Me: Just head up the stairs behind you.
Girl: Oh! That's what I did last time.

I Miss It

I was walking back to work from the coffee shop and saw a black kitten, that looked like my old cat Luna, chasing after a butterfly.

I miss that cat.

I miss not having to worry about anything, and being able to play like that.

Project Update

Yay! My latest project has already bought me a (expensive) latte. Since this is actually just a test phase for the bigger project, and since it's really just started, I'm incredibly excited about where this will lead once it takes off and grows even bigger.

It'll be the best tasting latte ever.

Gmail Keyboard Shortcuts

I finally enabled the keyboard shortcuts in Gmail. I've been reluctant to use them for.. well.. years now, mostly because I was afraid that I'd start typing something without being in a textfield and end up randomly deleting, archiving, and replying to emails without realizing in time. I decided that that's a stupid thing to worry about and finally turned the shortcuts on.

I'm still getting used to them, but so far I'm finding that I can fly through my email now that I can keep both hands on the keyboard.

Arby's Mac 'n Cheezers

I went shopping with my roommate last night, got some new shirts, it was good.

There's an Arby's right next to the outlet malls in Johnson Creek, so we stopped in there to eat. There was a big sign by the front door for their new "Mac 'n Cheezers" which are basically breaded mac and cheese nuggets. They looked gross, but I was curious and had to get an order. Holy crap! They were great! Something that normally requires a fork to eat is now portable and convenient. I'll never order them again, because they weren't exactly cheap for the amount that you get, but… nummy.

This is why I'm not allowed to own a deep fryer.

Edit: I'm going to throw some google juice at this - Outdoor Solar Lights

Gotta Enforce Those Laws

To really understand the humor and extent of what happened yesterday requires me to go into depth and conversations that would just take too long for me to explain fully in a post. It's probably a story best told over a drink, so if you want the whole thing.. you're gonna have to buy me a drink I guess. :)

Yesterday I stopped a kid from stealing magazines from the library. My initial response was one of frustration that turned into one of these wonderful anxiety attacks that I seem to have during stressful situations. I got his information and then I let the kid wait it out while I went and tried to find my boss, not because I needed her for this, but because I needed to chill out a bit, and I thought she would appreciate being a witness to this guy's complete stupidity. He was coming up with excuses about how "he didn't know how they got in his backpack" (the covers were ripped off of all of them), all the way to "I'm holding them for a friend" (they're not drugs, you don't "hold" a library's magazines for a friend).

By the time I got her, and got back to the kid, it was obvious that the wait had just made him more nervous, while I was now completely calm and prepared to handle the situation - and it was two against one now, which made him pull even further back from fear until he was basically unable to really talk. Mumbling and staring at his feet, fidgeting, his hands shaking, we got everything out of him that we needed, including the name of the guy that was with him that bailed at the first sign of trouble.
