I'm Cold

Sometimes I print out extra blank sheets of paper just to feel the warmth from the paper.

It only warms the outside though.

Virtual sparx

What if.. I wasn't an actual person?

What if.. I only exist "online" or in some weird thought-based limbo, and through some sort of mishap I developed what I would perceive to be thought and free will?

What if.. your existence is just a figment of my virtual imagination? And everything that you think you are thinking, or that you do, is actually just coming from my mind?

It would explain a lot.

Douglas Adams Day

Douglas Adams - a brilliant man, author of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy", and unfortunately no longer with us. Through a coincidence that maybe only Douglas himself could see, I've decided that I must organize a tribute to him and his writing. The date - spurred by the repetition of the date for this years olympics (08/08/08) - is 10/10/10.

Why? Since 10/10/10 is just ones and zeros, and could conceivably be a binary number, I decided to convert 101010 to a "real" decimal number - the result, 42. If you've read the Hitchhiker's Guide, you'd know why this is significant and the perfect date.

I did a brief search, and no one seem to have made the link between 10/10/10 and 42 or Douglas Adams. I'm sure someone, somewhere, has - heck, there's probably a group of die-hard fans somewhere with t-shirts already made up for this… but I didn't find anything, and now I feel clever.

You've Got Questions.. I've Got.. Whatever.

I've just deleted the 2,201st spam comment since starting this blog last year (on July 21st). Between me and my spam filter, guess how many spam comments have actually slipped through and actually shown up on here? Zero. Over that same period of time, the spam filter has also wrongly caught maybe 5 legitimate comments. Whoops. It'd be nice if there weren't so many douches around trying to scam their way towards an income.

I'm trying really hard to save money. Not going out to eat nearly as much, living with a roommate, carpooling whenever possible. I made turkey sandwiches for lunch today, how interesting is that? :-P I've just started using Yodlee to keep track of all my banking and debts. It's a great service, and has really helped me see the bigger picture of my financial situation.. which looks kind of like a painting by Vincent van Gogh if you squint just right.

Ask sparxMind.. do it. I need you to ask some questions so I can get some more content up there.. and then google will love me.. and random people will show up and ask more questions.. and then.. yeah.

Also, going back to the comment spam thing - I keep getting what I would consider semi-legitimate comments. These are comments that aren't advertising anything, and I can tell that they were actually written by a person that read my post. The problem is that they're linking to sites that appear (to me) to be questionable - mp3 sites, adsense sites, etc. I'm reluctant to let these slip through, especially since the people posting them seem to switch email addresses and names with every comment.

I Hope The Sun Will Shine Again

Oh noes! Where did I go?! … My brain was just too fuzzy to post anything, even the usual nothing that I seem to come up with. I tried, I came up with a few half-posts, but nothing that I could seem to finish. Nothing worth posting.

Interestingly, it seems like I get more readers when I don't post anything for the day. No comments though, and that's kind of one of the reasons why I still do this. I love the comments, that small bit of interaction.

In my state of fuzziness (mental or otherwise) I decided to start a new project. It's a few days old now, so there's nothing there. But Ask sparxMind is now live and ready to go. The idea is that anyone can ask any question about anything, and I'll pull out some sort of answer for them.
