WordPress 2.5

I've just upgraded WordPress.. not too many hangups involved this time around - until I find something screwy like that it won't actually post this.

I've seen a lot of complaints about the new wp dashboard… but I'm liking it so far.

If you notice anything that seems wrong, anything that's broken - leave a comment (if you can) or click the chat widget in the sidebar.

Bamboo Sheets

After reading an article about bamboo sheets last week, I decided to equip my own bed with a set. They were almost an impulse buy, since I was in Chicago for the weekend, and there are many places much more convenient to have to transport sheets from. I couldn't resist though, so I'm going to call it an informed-and-planned-impulse buy.

I stayed up late Sunday night because I forgot to wash the sheets when I got home, and it seemed silly to have a brand new set of sheets in hand and then sleep on the boring old cotton ones that I'm used to. I've been sleeping pretty badly for the last few weeks, and I can't claim that the sheets have performed any miracles and fixed that.. but.. my insomnia is comfy now. They really do feel good.

Oh, and they're more environmentally friendly than cotton, softer than cotton, and naturally antimicrobial (take that microbes!)

Bamboo sheets are sparx Recommended.

First Perfect-Weather Weekend Of The Year

I'm going to chalk the last few days up as having been another great weekend.

When I was younger, I used to be really into baseball. There was a park less than a block away from my house, and my neighbor and I would go down and hit a few every once in awhile. I had a pretty sizeable card collection which, unfortunately, seems to have vanished. What took me away from baseball? I'm not sure, but I'm almost hooked on it again. Part of me is resisting.

Saturday I went to my first Cubs game and the second baseball game that I've ever gone to. We had excellent seats, and the game was pretty back and forth. If there was ever a perfect situation to stir up my hunger for baseball, this was it. And it did. I'm hungry. As usual, pictures will probably take a week for me to actually get uploaded to flickr.

Sunday consisted of a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo and then the Conservatory. Both were nice and I had a great time, and now I'm really looking forward to seeing the zoo in the summer when the trees are full of leaves and the flowers are in bloom.

It's Still Pretty Cold

It's spring, which means that I'm being stubborn and trying to get by with wearing a coat as little as possible. For the last few days this has been fine in the afternoon, but in the morning - oh man - it's still a bit nippy out there. I think the freeze/thaw process is helping me start the day off awake and alert though, so there's no complaining from me.

It still makes me smile every morning to see the sunshine hitting the sidewalks. Why? Because there's no snow or ice on the ground to stop the light from hitting its target. And that's what it's really all about. Sunshine and sidewalks. Maybe lightning too.

Seeking…

This is a bit of a departure from the random, personal-ish posts that are so common on this blog. So much of a departure that it kind of just fits in.

I'm looking to form a group of like-minded, environmentally conscious, innovative, and creative people. The goal is to create a small community capable of churning out and marketing brilliant ideas. A think tank of sorts.

If you have any interest leave a comment (or click the chat button near the top of the page) and I'll answer any questions and keep you updated. Also - if you're crazy-rich philanthropist, by all means, feel free to throw funding and support our way.
